Some delicious spiritual food

My mind should be so filled with God's Word, that anything that tries to creep in to negate that steps on a spiritual land mine of His Word! A Word of God Land Mine By Dr. Larry Ollison In 1 Timothy 6:12, we are told to fight the good fight of faith. That is the only war we as Christians are to wage as New Testament believers. Satan has been defeated by Jesus in the spirit realm and he does not have access to the spirit of a Christian. So he attacks us in the realm of the soul. Yes, we must fight the battle of faith, but where does this battle take place? The battle of faith takes place in the mind. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world." (1 Pet. 5:8). Satan is not a roaring lion, but he is like a roaring lion. He is our enemy and he does seek to devour us. But how does he do it? Well since he is not a lion and is only like a lion according to verse 8, all he has is his "roar." It is the tool he uses to destroy us. He speaks with his mouth into our thought realm and what we do with his words is our choice. When you hear a lie, you can do one of two things. You can recognize it as a lie, reject it, and forget it. Or, you can ponder it, repeat it, and believe it. When you believe a lie, you usually will act on it. That can be deadly. If you believe a lie about a friend and you repeat it, you become a part of it. And when the truth is finally revealed, and it always is, you will stand there with egg on your face and probably a relationship will have been destroyed. Satan is a liar and he destroys relationships, but only if we believe his lies. Jesus said in John 8:44 that Satan is the father of lies. Every word that proceeds out of Satan's mouth is a lie or part of a deceptive plan. We are to resist him and not listen to the roar. James 4:7 tells us to submit to God, and resist the devil, which causes Satan to flee from us. Then verse 8 says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." How do we resist the devil? How can we keep from listening to his lies? How do we draw near to God? These may seem like complicated questions, but the answer is really quite simple. Remember, the fight of faith takes place in the mind. That's where Satan attacks. He moves into our thought realm and throws his lies at us. So we must be prepared. In the same way our bodies need regular food, our soul needs a steady supply of God's Word. Let's say in a week you eat 21 meals. Would it be healthy for you to eat all your meals on Sunday and not eat the rest of the week? No, that would be silly. But that's what many Christians do spiritually. They try to get enough Word in one day to last a week or longer. You must fill your mind with the Word of God daily. Plant the Word of God in your mind and then when Satan steps into your thought realm, he won't be able to walk without stepping on a "Word of God land mine." You will be so full of God's Word that Satan will not be able to stay. That's how you resist the devil, and the result is, he will flee.

Food for Thought

This post is not authored by me, I lifted it from a hair site that I frequent. Enjoy! How to Stop by Dr. Larry Ollison "Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it." (James 4:17 NLT) Years ago, a young high school boy sat in my office. He was hurting. He had just returned from the doctor and was told that he had cancer in his mouth. Even though he was young, he had been chewing tobacco for years. He knew he should quit chewing, he wanted to quit chewing, but he did not quit chewing and developed cancer. He needed deliverance from cancer. While it is true that God is our Deliverer, He also empowers us with His grace so that we can implement the preventive maintenance necessary to prevent destruction. Simply put, God could have empowered this young man to quit his cancer-causing habit so that the deadly disease never would have developed. Sadly, the young man could not stop chewing on his own and he did not understand that God's help was available. In the same way that God can miraculously heal us, He can also miraculously deliver us from the habits that cause destruction. In Hosea 4:6, God says that His people perish because of a lack of knowledge. It is a lack of knowledge of the principles of God that causes destruction in the lives of many Christians. When I asked this young man specifically why he didn't quit using tobacco, he said, "I have prayed and prayed and prayed and asked God to take the tobacco away, but He just didn't do it." He was blaming God, but it wasn't God's fault. The Apostle Paul had a "thorn in the flesh." He said that "the thorn" was a messenger, or angel, sent from Satan to torment him. He went on to say that he asked God three times to remove this thorn, and God didn't do it. Instead, God told Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you." To remove "the thorn" from your life, God will tell you the same thing He told Paul. His grace is sufficient for you. God will empower you with His power and His ability so that you (not He) can defeat the addictions of life. Even though it may seem like drugs, tobacco, pornography, overeating, etc. has you by the throat, it is possible to be set free. Make the decision to rebuke the enemy with the authority Jesus gave you. Stand on the Word that says that you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you and you will overcome the thorn in your life. Everything we receive must be received by faith. God's Word is pregnant with promises of deliverance. When you find them, believe in your heart they are personally for you, receive God's empowerment (grace), and you will discover that you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you. Scripture References: And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:7-9) Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." (Mark 9:23) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
